As we are pulling into port there is a really dense fog. They will not allow us to port until the fog lets up. So we have to wait until the damn fog lifts before we can get ashore. While we are waiting I wonder… is the bow the front and the stern the back of the boat or is it the other way around? Lee is talking about taking another cruise already… how weird. I guess he does fit in with all these old peeps.Since our tours are delayed we wander the boat looking for something interesting to do and stumble across a game of Bingo. Two games go by and I realize that Lee and I really do kinda like bingo… I am becoming increasingly concerned for us.
Venice is goddamn crowded! We walk into St. Mark Square where there are a million disgusting flying rat pigeons landing on people and trying to eat seeds from their hands. I swear if you dont get bird flu then like bubonic plague or something grossly equivalent. We tour the Doges’ (Venetian duke) Palace and the Basilica Di San Marco. In the Basilica they require you wear something that covers your shoulders and no shorts… good thing I left all my slutty clothes at home. CRAZY! I can’t even begin to describe how impressive both are.
Next we jump into a gondola and take a tranquil ride through the canals of Venice. Lee keeps calling the gondolas "Dongalos". To end the tour we check out a glass factory where they show you the timeless art of Venetian glass making. There we check out a bunch of Venetian pimp cups.
